Stop chronic anxiety in just
three months without drugs
Everyone has anxiety occasionally. It's part of life. But a lot of people have anxiety every day. They feel tense and anxious even when everything is going well. After a while, they usually start to think of themselves as neurotic or simply stress cases because they can't see what the source of the stress is. But what if all of this is mostly caused by diet? And what if a supplement could reverse it?

My experience tells me that most chronic anxiety is a nutritional problem. One recent study points to a nutrient deficiency as a cause.

The researchers in this study looked at 935 women between 20-93 years old. They used dietary questionnaires to determine how much omega-3 and omega-6 parent oils (LA and ALA) and fish oils (EPA and DHA) they were getting. They also used a mental health questionnaire along with an interview with a psychologist to determine if the women had any anxiety problems. What they found was pretty interesting.

The overall intake of the parent oils was normal. No problem there. However, the average intake of fish oils was lower than it ought to be. And of all the oils, LA, ALA, EPA, and DHA, they could relate only DHA intake to anxiety. The researchers divided the women into three groups depending on how much DHA they were taking. Here's what they found:

The more DHA they had in their diets, the less likely they were to have problems with anxiety. The women in the group with the highest intake of DHA were one-half as likely to have anxiety problems as those in the group with the lowest intake.

It's easy to understand why the chances for anxiety increase as DHA levels go down. DHA all by itself constitutes almost half of all of the fats in your brain. It is critically involved in every aspect of brain function. Other studies have shown that patients with cognitive disorders and patients suffering from severe depression have DHA deficiencies. Furthermore, your genes determine your body's ability to form DHA from the parent oils found in foods. Some people just don't do it very well. This may help to explain why psychological problems like anxiety tend to run in families.

If you have chronic anxiety, maybe it's because you don't have enough DHA. Why not try something that is easy and safe to see if it helps? Take two capsules of concentrated fish oil every day for three months. You will have to take it that long because it takes a while to build up the necessary amount of DHA in your brain.
