Is a Flood of Bad Health Headed Your Way? Here’s How to Find Out...

It’s no secret that environmental factors, diet, exercise, and hormones all play a part in how we age. But did you know it’s possible your body has hidden leaks in it that can make you age faster, destroy your health, and cause you to miss out on some great things later in life. Let me show you what I mean. And, after that, I’ll give you the secret to finding those leaks (Hint: this isn’t something your conventional doctor can help you find).

Last week I rode my bike around Lake Tahoe. That ride is 72 miles long with over 2,500 feet of climbing around one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. It took me five hours. In the old days it took me four hours. The day before my adventure, my wife Judy gave me that look and asked, “Why are you doing this at your age?” It’s a good question. Here’s my answer.

First, I was doing it because I can. Ever since I was 40 years old, I’ve been saving money for this time in my life. And, at the same time, I’ve also been training for this time. I have been walking the talk with interval training, hormone replacement, fasting, low-carb diet, supplements, sleep, and all of the other important factors for optimum health that I talk about in my book Bursting With Energy. There’s no reason why my age should have anything to do with it.

Second, I did it to celebrate. It’s a joyful occasion for me to be able to know that even at the tender age of 72, I can still do pretty much anything I want to do – even something crazy like riding around Lake Tahoe. My idea about the aging process has always been to do what it takes to slow it down. As long as the good Lord is going to assign me to this planet, I’m going to do everything I can to stay fully functional right up to the end no matter what my age is. Birthdays don’t matter. The last time I checked my mitochondrial function was eight months ago. And, like many of my patients, it was significantly better than the average 40 year old. So, why not ride around Lake Tahoe?

The third reason is to pave the way, and be a good example to my family and patients. If I can do it, so can they. My 49-year-old daughter, Heather, just checked her mitochondrial function. She was 33% better than the average woman nine years younger, and 15% better than me. That’s not by accident. She has also been doing what it takes. It’s the same with my wife, Judy, my other kids, and many of my patients.

So, if you’re already on a program to slow down aging and stay free from disease, do the right thing and make sure that your program is working for you. You can do that by having your mitochondrial function tested. The only reliable way to do this is with VO2 testing in a patented procedure called Bio-Energy Testing®. I’ll tell you more about it in a moment.

What Happens When You Don’t Prepare?

Yesterday, Dave, one of my biking buddies told me some bad news. He has a vacation house in Phoenix which he gets to every now and then. He hadn’t been there for a couple of months. The problem was that his next door neighbor called him and told him that there was some water coming out of the garage and going down the street. He sent his realtor over to see what was going on, and discovered that for the previous several weeks, completely unknown to him, his house had been coming down with something. And, I thought to myself, this is the same thing that happens to us when we get sick, old, and feeble. Here’s what I mean.

The water was coming from a small leak in the refrigerator line that went to the drinking water. At first, that doesn’t sound like much. But over a period of several weeks the house had accumulated about two inches of water. And, when the realtor opened the front door, a mini wall of water came pouring out. And, what about the house? According to my friend, it was completely trashed. The rugs, furniture, cabinets, walls, and doors were all damaged. The house had to be gutted in order to repair everything but the ceiling.

Here’s the point. If only he had found out about the leak early on, there would have been no damage at all. And, that’s why this house experience is like what happens to us as we get older.

What makes us weak and frail as we get older? It’s not a leak in the refrigerator line, but it’s a leak nevertheless. It’s a leak in our electron transport chain.

What Is an Electron Transport Chain?

In each and every cell in the body, there are thousands of mitochondria that house the electron transport chain. That’s where all that oxygen we breathe in ends up. As the oxygen is processed in the electron transport chain, we get the energy that our bodies need to stay alive. But when there is a leak in the chain, it doesn’t work so well. And that’s when things started to go wrong.

But, they don’t go wrong fast. They go wrong slowly, just like that leak in Dave’s house. And left unattended for long enough, the results are the same. That’s because just like the leak was not discovered until the water was so high that it was running out of the garage, any leaks in your electron transport chain are only discovered after the damage has been done, and you are already sick, weak, or prematurely old. I told Dave that what he needed was some kind of detection system that would alert him to a leak before it caused any significant problems. It came to my mind because that is exactly what we need in order to avoid the same kind of problem with our electron transport system. In our case, the detection system is Bio-Energy Testing.

Bio-Energy Testing is a system that I developed almost 20 years ago to identify early on any electron transport chain leaks. It involves wearing a mask similar to a scuba mask through which you breathe. The mask is connected to an analyzer that measures how much oxygen your electron transport chain is processing and how much carbon dioxide it is producing. These measurements are then fed into a computer, which can then determine if there are any leaks in your chain. If there are, the data can also be used to establish a targeted program to repair the leaks, and get you on the right path again.

Here’s the Bad News

Back in 2004, using the Bio-Energy Testing protocol, I published the results of a study of 30 healthy men and women between 30-40 years. Amazingly, these leaks were already showing up in 46% of them. Who would have guessed? There’s just no way to discover electron transport chain leaks before they wreak their damage other than with Bio-Energy Testing.

In some of us, the leaks are small like Dave’s, and the damage happens slowly. But in some the leaks are larger, and are going to cause problems sooner. Just remember this. Literally all of the evidence regarding chronic degenerative disease and the processes involved in aging point to leaks in the electron transport chain as the primary culprit. If we could only discover these leaks sooner than later, that would be the secret to avoiding the diseases, weakness, and loss of function that so commonly occurs in later life. Fortunately, we can.

Right now, I know what you’re thinking. What causes these leaks in the first place? Here are the major factors: toxicity, medications, decreased circulation, decreased hormone production, decreased fitness, poor nutrition, poor lifestyle habits, genetics, and you guessed it – having birthdays. We can’t do anything about our genetics or our birthdays, but we can do a lot about all of the other factors. And, that is why Bio-Energy Testing is so important.

If your test reveals that you’re processing oxygen productively and efficiently, then you know that your health program is matching up well with your genetics. No need to change anything. You’re on a roll. And no need to be concerned about aging or getting sick.

But, if your test shows that you’re not processing oxygen well, then be happy. At least you know you have a problem. And that gives you the chance to do something about it before it’s too late. Because, here’s the good news. These leaks are completely correctable. It’s just a matter of making the right adjustments to your program.

Unfortunately, there are only a handful of doctors in the United States who are monitoring the electron transport chain. But, since you only have to do the test once every one to two years, it makes all the sense in the world to find the closest one to you, and travel to get tested. You can find these doctors at www.bioenergytesting.com. And you can learn more about how it works by watching my free educational series on Bio-Energy Testing, Health, Aging, and Disease – It’s All About Energy, at the “Video” page on the clinic web site: www.antiagingmedicine.com.

Everyone should have their electron transport chain tested once when they hit 40, and then every one to two years thereafter. As Dave would be quick to say, the earlier you find out about your leaks, the better!

The doctor can use the information he gets from the test to help you get on the right path if you need help. And, maybe once you fix those leaks, I’ll see you next year on the ride around Lake Tahoe. You can get information on next year’s rides at www.bikethewest.com.
