Increase your ability to fight colon cancer by 56%
If you are at risk of colon cancer, or have polyps, researchers are telling us that a two-nutrient combination can rid your colon of cancer cells. But if you look at the research, it shows one of these nutrients isn't necessary. Taking the right nutrient, though, can increase your ability to fight cancer by 56%.
In a new study on 92 men and women, researchers divided the participants into groups to take either a placebo, calcium (2.0 grams daily), vitamin D3 (800 IU daily), or a combination of calcium and vitamin D.
After six months, the researchers looked at the activity of the gene Bax. This gene stimulates apoptosis, the process by which cells commit suicide when they go bad. The researchers said in their report that vitamin D and calcium provided protection. And they did. But the strongest effect was in the vitamin D group. In this group, Bax increased 56% compared to the placebo group. The calcium plus vitamin D group came in a bit lower at a 33% increase in Bax activity.
I've reported in the past about how vitamin D deficiency is a strong indicator of cancer risk and other problems. Now we see one of its mechanisms. It activates genes that help stop cancer from forming at all. Calcium probably contributes to the equation by helping keep your body alkaline.

However, I'm not a huge fan of supplemental calcium in large doses. I think if you follow my dietary recommendations in these pages, you won't need any extra calcium. And this study confirms my position. The calcium actually lowered the patients' ability to fight cancer compared to vitamin D all by itself.
I measure vitamin D3 in almost all of my patients. It comes up on the low side so often that I have no reservation about recommending 5,000 units daily. In many cases, I use 10,000 IU. Please be sure that you are sufficient in vitamin D for optimal health. Advanced Bionutritionals provides an excellent product. It's even suitable for vegetarians.
PS. If you have macular degeneration, or a similar eye problem, I have exciting news. My wife and I will be teaming up with our good friend Dr. Ed Kondrot of Arizona for an intense three day program in Santa Rosa California, October 25-27, 2010.
We will have an introductory talk the evening of Sunday October 24, open to the public. Beginning the next day, participants will be able to take part in what we believe are the most advanced therapies readily available for macular degeneration.
Dr. Kondrot will be providing his famous frequency specific microcurrent treatments. He will be instructing on its home use.
My wife and I will be evaluating for medical problems including circulation, metal toxicity, dietary inadequacies, and more. Participants will receive oxidation therapy (as shown in Italy to reverse macular degeneration), nutritional IV therapy, supplements, and instruction on diet/lifestyle.
Dr. Kondrot, My wife and I are quite excited at the prospects for our first joint team-up for advanced therapy for macular degeneration. This is probably the first opportunity in the USA for these combined therapies, all in one location. For more information, please call Dr. Kondrot's office at 800-430-9328.
I look forward to seeing you!
